Zipping along the Blue Ridge Parkway...

We returned yesterday from our trip to the Mast Farm Inn located in historic Valle Crucis, NC. It was relaxing but we managed to stay quite busy the whole time! Here are a few photos from our trip...and yes, Mike rented the Porsche for a day (it was an option offered at the Inn... and of course he couldn't refuse!) We also braved the SCREAM zip line which was unbelievably fun. Also, what a small world...the owners of the Inn were from Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The same city our daughter is living in the orphanage. How strange! They grew up there and moved to NC two years ago.

Anyway, now it's back to reality...

The Time of My Life

Do you all have the new David Cook CD yet? I DO!
Thanks to Mike for somehow making this CD for me! It has all of David Cook's American Idol songs, but as studio recordings! It's awesome! As a huge Daughtry fan,
I would say this ranks right up there with his!
We'll be listening to it all they way to the mountains and home I am sure.
It does seem strange to be celebrating our 10th anniversary,
blogging about a 25 year old rocker. But anyway, I am!

Estherline- Recent Photos

These photos were just emailed to us from our program director, Sara. She just returned from Haiti with her 4 year old son that she and her husband adopted, and was kind enough to take photos and videos of all the children. Yeah!

Comfy Cozy Cabinet

This weekend Mike and I are off to the mountains to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Preston figured out yesterday, that he and Caden will not be traveling along with us. So he had an outburst in the car yesterday: "You mean, you're not taking ME? You mean you're not taking Caden? It's not fair, you get to sleep in a Lincoln Log Cabinet and we don't!"

Leapin' Lizard

After many tries, we finally caught the lizard that lives in our garage. He was hiding out in Mike's golf bag. Don't worry, we let him go before the boys inflicted any injury to him!

We Thank You!

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to all who contributed this year to our JDRF Walk Team. Caden is always so proud of this event and raising money for "his" diabetes. Every year we have more and more difficulty raising the money, so we appreciate your donations more than you could ever know! If you still would like to donate you can send your donation in to our address or donate online at http://www.jdrf.org. You have until June 30th to contribute to our team.

Again, thank you for all your generosity!

Happy "Belated" Mothers Day!

I am one day late, but Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's out there! We had a rather uneventful day...started with church, went to Brunch at Jeffrey's, which was YUMMY! Then off to Sam's Club, no better way to celebrate Mother's Day than finding out your Sam's Club membership expired after you have a cart full of stuff. Then I hung out at home, researching a weekend getaway for our 10 year wedding anniversary this Friday! If anyone has any ideas, we are looking for a nice inn or B&B near wineries of NC, SC or GA. Just want to relax, unwind and sip wine! And, yes, I am a control freak when it comes to planning vacations. Caden spilled the beans regarding Mike's plan, so I have since taken over the planning. Mike wanted to take an esaver to Chicago or Boston, which is a great idea....BUT, what would I rather do? Fight airport lines and delays or sit on a rocking chair porch with a glass (or should I say bottle) of wine? Hmmm...let me think?!

Food Crisis in Haiti

We have heard of a little one in the orphange dying of lung disease possibly because her mom's ate dirt as a staple in her diet. I couldn't image it was all that "common" until I saw this link on www. foxnews.com "Haiti Harsh Realities", mentioning people resorting to eating "dirt cookies".

Here is a video link.

The orphange our little girl lives at is also experiencing a huge financial hardship. If you would like to donate money to the orphage for food and rent, please visit:

Field Trip to Baa Moo

Here's a few photos from last weeks field trip to Baa Moo Farm in Olin, NC. What a cute place. The kids loved it and so did my niece, Campbell!
